Photographic Model for Original Painting: The artist used a photograph taken by photographer Juan Montell in which he captures Bobby Jones’s perfect swing in 1922. This photograph was published in numerous publications, including Montell’s own nephew, Frank Christian’s fine book; Augusta National & The Masters – A Photographic Scrapbook.

Original Painting Status: Purportedly on display at the Augusta National Golf Club. An article in the spring 1978 edition of the Augusta Magazine stated: “The original oil which has been enjoyed only by members and privileged guest…”

Authorization: Reported in the spring 1978 edition of the Augusta Magazine as stating: “… the painting has been reproduced as a full color graphic by special permission.”
